JOB SUMMARY :
The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding the company's financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees accounting department, budget preparation, payroll, and audit functions.
- Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Manage and maintain the General Ledger and reconcile all its various income, expense, restricted, and unrestricted accounts according to GAAP. Recommend, follow and monitor internal accounting controls in compliance with GAAPDevelop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain the financial records of the organization according to GAAPSupervise and provide support in the hiring and training of accounts payable / accounts receivable staff, business office staff and organization personnel and assistance as appropriate or requestedReview reconciliations of all bank statements and monies from various club locations including : cash tuition and fees payments, cash and on-line enrollment application fees, and miscellaneous cash receipts; Development Office receipts to include : cash and credit card contributions, on-line contributions, and payroll deduction contributions;Prepare or review end of month end annual general ledger adjusting journal entries; prepare end of month financial reports to include income & expense statement, balance sheet, and cash flow summaryPrepare annual financial close for independent financial audit report to include balance sheet; statement of activities, statement of cash flows, all notes to the financial statement and supporting details for unrestricted, temporarily restricted and permanently restricted net assets.Prepare / review financial reports or provide financial data as required by all donors / grantors. Ensure timely processing and collection of reimbursable grantsPrepare / review operational reports for distribution to various internal stakeholdersAssist with annual budgeting processCreate and maintain internal cash flow and operating projectionsAssist CEO and / or Board with strategic initiativesQUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum seven (7) years’ experience as a CFO; to include financial reporting, business analysis, internal control monitoring, financial systems integration and budgeting / forecastingCPA preferred; background in not-for-profit accounting is desirableDemonstrated expertise in the area of payroll and benefits managementExperience with the Blackbaud (Financial Edge) financial management system preferredAbility to work as a team leader and as a contributing team member in an educational environmentStrong interpersonal skills to include being cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented and able to manage students in a courteous and effective mannerProficiency with use of computer technology, office and audiovisual equipment as they pertain to the essential functions of this positionAbility to organize and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision, and work in an environment subject to interruptionsOutstanding communication skills to include the ability to use clear, concise, and grammatically correct written and verbal language in all aspects of professional interaction with members, parents, peers, administration, and the general publicPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :
