Position Title: Unit Director
Hours per Week: 40
Employment Type: Exempt employee; eligible for full benefits package
Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 per year
Responsibilities:
1. Plan and oversee the administration of designated Club programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
· Establish Club program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
· Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
· Ensure that members, especially tweens and teens, are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
· Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety and development of members.
2. Lead in recruiting, hiring, training, disciplining, scheduling and evaluation of all part-time staff for the organization.
3. Responsible for the development of the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly programs of unit that serves 160 youth per day.
4. Responsible for meeting all organizational requirements established by the Boys & Girls Club of America and the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County.
5. Providing guidance and discipline of members and following procedures when following up with parents.
6. Establish and maintain Club program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment in good working condition.
7. Marketing of unit and organizational programs through all media sources. Preparation and distribution to club families and posting of programs and special events throughout the Club.
8. Developing and overseeing club and community special events when assigned this duty.
9. Ensure the evaluation of organization’s programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verify that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
10. Serving as an advocate of youth, through public speaking, serving on community groups, etc.
11. Control Club program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
12. Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
13. Record keeping of all programs and members. Turning in all required reports on time and in good order and keeping files on programs for future use.
14. Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
15. Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers, media releases and social media.
16. Oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other Club activities as necessary.
17. Advise other site directors on programs, staffing, safety or other Club matters as necessary.
18. Assist with administration duties associated with Club activities.
19. Reports to Chief Executive Officer
20. Assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club, or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent experience required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in providing leadership and problem solving
- Understanding of group dynamics
- Demonstrated organizational, managerial and project management abilities
- Basic computer skills; proficient in Google Workspace
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
