Unit Coordinator - Kiel Middle School
Benefit Eligible - 30 hours per week

Position Overview
The Unit Coordinator works in partnership with the Unit/Program Director to manage overall daily operations of the Boys & Girls Club at school-based sites with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, facilities management, and data collection/entry. Unit Coordinators function as lead staff with emphasis on supporting member needs and behavior management and maintaining respectful and collaborative relationships with caregivers and community partners.
Essential Job Functions
Operations
  • Work closely with the Unit/Program Director regarding the implementation and delivery of programs, services and activities that facilitate achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Use a Continuous Improvement mindset to optimize effectiveness and relevancy to the school community.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate programs to ensure grant compliance and sustainability.
  • Create a welcoming environment that promotes an Optimal Club Experience featuring: Supportive relationships with caring adults, a safe positive environment, recognition, opportunity, and fun & a sense of belonging.
  • Provides leadership to program staff and promotes and develops leadership skills in members.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments to align goals and strategies and to foster a culture of cooperation and teamwork.
  • Engage in continuous learning and contribute to the effective implementation of continuous improvement processes.
  • Support the ethical use of data to make decisions in a timely and informed manner.
  • Represent the organization to the community in a way that enhances the organization’s profile, builds its reputation, supports its strategic priorities, and advances its mission.
  • Contribute to operational goals and objectives that align with and advance the organization's strategic priorities.
  • Support team development and performance, inclusive of but not limited to active listening, team-based learning, recognition, fun, and transparent communications.

Resource Development
  • Work to understand how your actions and contributions to quality work and to maximization of resources enhance the organization’s fundraising efforts and its overall financial health.
  • Support fundraising, donor stewardship, and Board engagement activities.
Safety and Risk Management
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Plan programming with mandated ratios and supervision of youth procedures to minimize opportunities for incidents.
  • Assist with implementing uniformity in expectations and behavioral protocols across the Club to maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Ensure current safety practices meet or exceed organizational requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of new or amended policies, practices, and processes that further mitigate and minimize safety risks.
Talent Development
  • Provide support in strength-based onboarding experiences for new staff that allow for shadowing and skill development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, aligning your efforts with the organization’s values, mission, strategic priorities, and policies.
  • Participate in available coaching opportunities, regular one-on-one meetings with your supervisor, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and development by following talent development requirements and creating and following a professional development plan.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The Unit Coordinator requires a majority combination of the following:
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Education, Human Services or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated record of understanding regarding youth development principles, behavior management, outcome evaluation, and program management.
Skills and Requirements
  • Ability to make policy driven decisions quickly in effectively engaging with members and parents, including behavioral conversations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a timely, open, and clear manner.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computers, software, and other technology tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Working Conditions
Work will occur both in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors with minimal potential for safety or health hazards. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets as well as non-hazardous program supplies and equipment such as basketballs, paint, markers, billiard balls, musical instruments, etc.
Physical Demands include:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move independently indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone and photocopier.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to quickly detect safety concerns.
  • Must be able to move equipment and supplies required to perform the position’s responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work effectively in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work effectively in an environment where the noise level may be loud at times.
