TITLE: Youth Development Specialist - Cashiers Site
STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Cashiers Club Director
SCHEDULE:
Fall/Spring: Monday - Friday 1pm - 6pm during the school year
Summer: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm with 1 hour lunch break (may be flexible)
Occasional nights or weekends may be required for training, field trips, or other Club-related activities
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Youth Development Specialist assists the Club Director with overseeing the daily program operations of the Cashiers Club. The Youth Development Specialist will assist the Club Director with the scheduling of quality programming, supervising and training staff, setting up materials, ensuring facilities are clean and safe, and evaluating programming activities for youth to ensure enrichment programming is successful. The Youth Development Specialist will assist with ensuring a safe environment for Club members and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Development:
- Leads activities designed to foster members’ mental, physical, and social development.
- Plan, organize, implement Club recognition programs (Youth of the Month, Club store, Club Cash).
- Help to plan and implement Club community programs such as “Fun Fridays.”
- Monitor member behavior and implement discipline policy as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Float in programming as needed to provide behavior and emotional support to members.
- Works with youth individually or in groups to facilitate programming and manage behavior.
- Provides feedback to Club youth using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
Staff Development:
- Assist the Club Director with communicating the following to staff: job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and training employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Maintain a safe, legal, and clean work environment.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to staff.
Community Engagement:
- Assist the Club Director with developing and maintaining a positive and professional contact with external community groups, members’ parents and others.
- Participate in Community Events as necessary.
Administrative Support:
- Create daily and weekly afterschool program schedules.
- Assign staff to set-ups and strikes.
- Represent supervisors in their absence from Club.
- Assist with evaluating program quality through surveys and observations.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participate in BGCA trainings, internal trainings, and other development opportunities.
- Fill-in at Club as a Program Group Leader or in other capacities as needed.
- May be required to drive Club Vehicles.
- May help to distribute meals and snacks to members.
- May oversee special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Club activities as necessary.
- Set up and strike daily programming equipment and clean areas as needed at the end of the day.
- Participate in planning and implementation of special programs and/or events including community events, carnivals, off-campus trips, etc.
- Daily problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to adapt.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years prior experience working or volunteering with youth
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, and Google Drive
- Ability to work regular Club hours, evenings, and some weekends
- Dependable, driven, dedicated, and motivated
- Uplifting, flexible, and creative
- Able to drive Club vehicles (21 or older with a clean driving record)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires physical strength and agility to safely perform all essential functions, including the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment without assistance. Position requires operation of motor vehicles and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
