POSITION SUMMARY & OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The Director of Education is responsible for staff training and program implementation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County's college & career readiness programs (Teens of Promise) in the Education Department, as a part of our partnership with the Madison Metropolitan School District. This position will focus on staff support and training, as well as program execution and innovation. The Director of Education will facilitate staff training and ongoing development to ensure consistency of our program model across all sites.
The Director of Education is also expected to be flexible and adaptable, taking on other duties assigned to support the organization's overall objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Leadership & Development (55%):
- Supervise a team of staff focused on providing college & career readiness support to youth and oversee TOPS programming led by staff
- Provide comprehensive training and coaching to staff on college readiness, college success, and career programs.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality programming across all sites and summer career programs.
- Provide coaching, training, and development to support both individual staff growth and team-wide improvement.
- Conduct regular staff observations and provide staff coaching and training to reach individual and programmatic goals.
- Plan and facilitate team meetings
Program Evaluation & Improvement (20%):
- Assess the effectiveness of current programs and identify opportunities for refinement.
- Participate in and oversee certification and evaluation efforts annually through data collection.
- Use feedback and data to inform continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with grants, contracts, and program agreements
- Support with data tracking & database management
Partnerships & Collaboration (20%):
- Serve as site lead for assigned partnership sites, working with school leadership and partners to ensure successful programming.
- Collaborate with education leadership teams and external partners to ensure seamless programming across sites.
- Engage in partnership discussions and collaborative planning at the district level
- Build relationships with school sites to align with resources and services.
- Explore potential collaborations to enhance program impact.
- Collaborate with site staff to align programming with BGCDC resources.
Volunteer Engagement (5%):
- Evaluate programmatic volunteer needs and communicate with leadership.
- Collaborate with staff to recruit and train volunteers.
- Provide recognition and appreciation for contributions from volunteers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative of BGCDC on relevant committees, boards, or organizations.
- Participate in special programs and events throughout the year.
- Be available for occasional weekend and evening work as required.
- Assume additional duties to support BGCDC's mission and strategic priorities.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
Co-manage and reconcile program budgets, ensuring financial integrity and accountability.
RELATIONSHIPS
??Internal: As an integral part of our team, you will maintain close, daily contact with Education and School staff (both professional and volunteer), Club members, and your supervisor. This continuous communication ensures the seamless exchange of information, facilitates discussions on pertinent issues, clarifies guidelines and instructions, provides instruction and guidance, and offers counseling when necessary.
?External: Externally, you will maintain contact as needed with various community groups, schools, members' families, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and assist in resolving any arising issues. By actively engaging with these external partners, you contribute to creating a supportive network and ensuring the well-being of our members within the broader community.?

Working conditions & Physical demands
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, budgets, instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts, and technical information with others. Physical abilities required include bending at the waist and reaching above the shoulder to maintain files, speaking and hearing to exchange information, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods. The employee will have periods of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, jumping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.

Requirements:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Work, Human Development, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
A minimum of 2 years experience working in a non-profit organization, high school, school district, or post-secondary institution.
Two years of direct supervision and team leadership experience
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout Dane County. Must have a valid driver's license and insurance if using a personal vehicle
Required Hours
This position is classified as exempt and full-time regular, requiring availability to fulfill the essential duties of the role, which may include working on holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary. The position requires occasional travel to off-site Clubs, meetings, and events. Core Business Hours are 9:00 am-5:00 pm daily.
