Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley is now hiring an Assistant Club Director for the White Pine site. Candidates must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED, per daycare licensing requirements
What is an Assistant Club Director?
The Assistant Club Director is a frontline, part time managerial & program position. The Assistant Club Director is responsible for assisting the Club Director in oversight of the Club facility and staff as well as implementing educational, safe, engaging and fun activities with youth.
This includes creating and leading engaging activities such as sports, arts and crafts, tutoring, and community service projects. They also provide invaluable guidance and counseling to youth who may be struggling with personal or academic challenges. Finally, the Assistant Club Director must be able to provide guidance and support to other Club staff in their supervision.

- Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Building positive relationships with Club members is critical to their success, so having strong interpersonal skills is a must. A Assistant Club Director must be able to communicate effectively with young people, parents, and other staff members.
- Organizational & Planning Skills: Planning and coordinating activities and programs requires strong organizational skills. Developing engaging programs and activities for Club members requires creativity and innovation. Assistant Club Directors must be able to lead and motivate Club members to participate in activities and programs.
- Flexibility: Assistant Club Director must be able to adapt to the changing needs of Club members and the organization.
Daily Tasks
Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
- Supervise & monitor program areas to ensure Club member safety in a 1 adult to 20 youth ratio
- Manage Youth Development Professionals working at the Club site.
- Provide guidance and discipline for all types of behavioral issues with consistency and patience using conflict management skills; foster an inclusive and emotionally safe space for youth. Coach staff on how guidance and discipline. Communicate directly with caregivers about Club member behavior issues.
- Plan and implement activities and programs based on weekly lesson plans or using BGCA national program curriculum guides.
- Maintain the cleanliness of personal program space and overall Club site
- Remain active, engaged and energetic for 6 hours
- Follow licensing, grant, and funding guidelines from organizations providing oversight to BGCDV, including but not limited to the TN Department of Education, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the USDA
- Work directly and professionally with the school community in which the Club is housed
Occasional Job Tasks
- Supervise youth on buses, field trips or at other special events
- Work at organizational fundraising events
- Travel to other Club locations as a substitute if other staff are out; mileage reimbursed
Job Requirements
- 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED, per daycare licensing requirements
- Ability to pass a background screen, drug screen, and physical, including lifting 40 pounds
- 1-2 years of professional experience with children (does not include parenting) ideal
- Management experience preferred for this position
- Ability to complete at least 12 hours of paid training related to youth development
- Ability to be CPR/First Aide certified within 6 months of employment
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work each day, Monday-Friday, during the regular shift of 2:00 PM-6:00 PM
