Teen Community Engagement Manager
Job Summary:
The Teen Community Engagement Manager supports the sustainability and growth of the teen memberships for the organization. The focus is on carrying out strategic planning and goal setting, implementing programs, and directing the operations to support its goals and mission. The Teen Community Engagement Manager’s primary responsibilities include capacity building, community collaborations, programming and training, building relationships with community school districts and county juvenile probation to support juvenile detention alternative initiatives for behavior and school truancies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participates in Juvenile Court Assessment Team (JCAT), Juvenile Justice Work Groups, Case Management, etc. to represent Club and alternatives.
- Support Teen Program growth across the county and surrounding county sites.
- Collaborate with Elkhart County Schools to support attendance/truancy initiatives.
- Collaborate with Elkhart County Probation to support attendance/truancy initiatives and other disciplinary initiatives and alternatives to juvenile detention.
- Supports existing BGCEC Teen programming including Youth of the Year, Keystone & Torch Clubs, Teen Takeover and Life & Workforce Readiness.
- Maintains contact with teen sites through regular observation and participation
- Ensures an environment, program and service that prepares youth for success, workforce readiness.
- Ensures implementation and completion of grant goals and outcomes.
- Submits regular reports reflecting all activities and tracks all member attendance and participation for assigned programs for JDAI caseload.
- As Club ambassador engages in opportunities to promote strengthen overall Club awareness and branding within Elkhart County.
- Implement Truancy/Attendance Programs in coordination with school district personnel and Probation.
- Directly manage Teen Program extension site staff, including managing schedules and timecards, training, performance management, and supervision.
- Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a role supervising staff and overseeing teens in a group setting
- Demonstrated competence working with youth grades 6-12.
- Experience working with youth with special needs and/or requiring mental health services preferred.
- Knowledge of youth development and youth disciplinary alternative strategies.
- Utilizes sound judgment implementing safety protocol and policies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, in small and large group settings.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport.
- Manages multiple priorities and tasks including effective time management and attention to detail.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively; ability to apply critical thinking skills when problem solving
- Demonstrates effective conflict resolutions strategies
- Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office suite
- Reliable transportation, safe driving record, active driver’s license, and automobile insurance is required.
- Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs.
