What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tobacco Intervention Assistant position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County?
Dear Applicant:
The California Decoy Program, with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County (B&GCFC), hires tobacco intervention assistants in all 58 California counties to help conduct tobacco checks. All checks are done in partnership with the:
California Department of Public Health
Office of Youth Tobacco Enforcement (OYTE)
Tobacco Enforcement Operations
OYTE works to reduce underage tobacco sales in California. Tobacco Intervention Assistant who works with OYTE investigators will try to purchase tobacco products at tobacco retailers under OYTE supervision to help stop the illegal sale of tobacco to minors. Our investigators will come to you, and you will NEVER have to travel to Fresno.
Tobacco prevention assistants who help with undercover tobacco operations are trained and prepared for tobacco related checks. If tobacco is sold to an assistant, the OYTE will issue a fine the establishment. The OYTE agents will notify the store owner that an illegal sale was made. The assistant is not involved or present when the fine is issued.
The California Decoy Program offers a unique opportunity for tobacco prevention assistants to earn money, work with state law enforcement, and help stop the injustice of underage tobacco sales. We are pleased to offer all enrolled decoys a $50 sign on bonus as well as the opportunity to earn $100-$200 on the days they work.
