Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth currently has an opening for a Part-Time Youth Development Professional front desk specialist at our Steil Club.

School Year Hours: Monday-Friday 2:30pm-7:30pm
Summer Hours: Monday-Thursday 11am-5pm
Pay: $15 an hour

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide a safe and positive environment that aligns with the Formula for Impact plan and other key youth development strategies. Manage the front desk of the club including check members in and out, managing the data base, entering member information, answering phone calls and communication with parents.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Create and facilitate a safe and positive environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
- Ability to travel between Club locations as necessary to provide program assistance
- Works with the Club Director and program staff to identify, develop, and implement processes for managing front desk
- Review incoming membership applications to ensure they are completed in full
- Monitor front desk phone by reviewing voicemails, answering and returning calls
- Manage the online database including entering new members, running reports and providing updates to Club leadership
- Manage payments of club membership fees
- Communicate with parents and guardians dropping off and picking up members and ensuring they have authorization to do so
- Implementing social and emotional learning strategies to ensure members feel safe and welcome
- Provide guidance to Club members and serve as a role model
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in evaluations annually to discuss knowledge and ability to demonstrate positive behavioral management and trauma informed care
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily building clean up: overall facility housekeeping, program area, restrooms, kitchen and entry ways
- Participate in weekly Club staff meetings, monthly Organizational meetings and quarterly trainings which may include occasional weekends
- Participate in special programs and /or events as necessary for programming needs. This may include occasional weekends
- May be required to drive an organizational vehicle
- Other duties as assigned
- Handle and serve food
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff and volunteers, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to promote the success of the Club and organization.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Experience working with youth ages 6-18
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems in a supportive manner
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to learn and use Trax Online Management System
- Ability to use Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- CPR and FIRST AID Certified or ability to be certified
- Valid State ID
