The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all daily operations of the nutrition and related food services programs, including the daily preparation, production and service of meals, snacks, and all food service within the organization. This position will report to the Director of Culinary Operations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Food service degree preferred.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation required.
- ServeSafe, CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become certified in timely manner.
- Experience working with children in a congregate food service setting.
- Highly organized, reliable, and ability to effectively communicate.
- Flexibility to work clubhouse hours, especially as seasons and service needs change.
(i.e. School Days: 10:00am-6:00pm, None School Days: 7:00am-3:00pm)
This position requires travel to both the Brockton and Taunton Clubhouses.
Essential Functions:
* Nutritional Planning:
o Prepare and implement the menu cycle to achieve maximum efficiency within nutritional guidelines. Seek to incorporate high-level food choices, with focus on culturally and ethnically diverse options, healthy selections, and unique youth focused “fun with food.”
o Develop a culture of cost effective menu planning that seeks to minimize waste and promote a cost-effective operation.
o Responsible for the development and submission of monthly program menus to the Director of Culinary Operations on the 1st day of the month prior to meal service for evaluation and approval.
o Responsible for daily inventory, organization, and necessary perishable and non-perishable ordering with approved food service vendors.
o In an effort to promote a culture of healthy youth centered meal patterns, menus will avoid cold meals whenever possible, incorporate produce from in-house farms into daily meal service as an ingredient in the entrée or side salad.
o In partnership with supervisor, host quarterly listening sessions with targeted Club members to increase member input into meal service.
o Assist with Clubhouse meetings including meal service and food preparation.
* Food Safety & Compliance:
o Responsible for the daily sanitation and operation of a clean kitchen facility and service stations within Clubhouses. This includes but no limited too cold storage, holding cabinets, heating equipment, equipment, and supplies.
o Complete necessary preparation of food by following proper sanitation, safety guidelines, regulations and standards.
o Maintain compliant with all Department of Education and Local Board of Health regulations.
o Maintain daily temperature recordings of stored and potentially hazardous foods in compliance with all food safety regulations.
o Provide detailed reports on daily food service patterns, service records, and relevant program information.
o Participate and ongoing trainings and meetings as required by governing agencies and food service partners.
* Freight Farm Partnership:
o Responsible for the pick-up and delivery of Freight Farm produce for in connections to food service from both Taunton and Brockton farm locations.
o Responsible for the pick-up of partner produce at off-site locations as needed to support pantry efforts and food service menu.
o Communication in a timely manner with Freight Farm team items eligible for recipe development via email.
* Management:
o Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and management of food service staff to assist with daily meal service, transport, and distribution.
o Responsible for the planning and procurement of staff training/meeting meal service as assigned, including pick up/delivery of food as needed.
