Accounting and Finance Assistant- Part-Time
Job Description
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in all aspects of finance. The Finance Assistant will be assigned very specific financial responsibilities as deemed necessary by the CFO. It will be the role of the assistant to understand and be able to perform many aspects of the organization’s financial duties to enable to CFO to focus on critical tasks during specific times of the year. The Finance Assistant position is a PART-TIME position working 20-25 hours per week reporting directly to the CFO.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Assistant will:
- Prepare balance sheets
- Assist will payroll and onboarding of new employees and re-hires
- Enter financial data into the system
- Update financial records
- Create cost analysis reports for other departments
- Help maintain financial policies throughout the company
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Assist with grant claims and reimbursements
- Keep track of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare tax documents for the organization
- Assist with compiling financial documents for the annual audit

Qualifications
Education:
The minimum educational qualification required is a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
Training:
It would be preferred for the Finance Assistant to hold one or more of the following certifications, but is not necessary with the commensurate experience:
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
Certified Public Accountant (CFA)
Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
Experience:
Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience working in a financial department of either a non or for-profit business. Must have experience related to day-to-day financial management, payroll, bank reconciliations, etc. Extensive experience working on financial audits is a plus.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with supervisor, assigned financial club staff and staff from facilities that will be interfacing with the finance department.
External: Maintain contact as necessary with payroll services, auditors, vendors or any related contact to the finance department. Additionally, will connect to trainings as assigned by the supervisor provided by outside certification resources or Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
