TITLE: Teen Youth Development Professional--AWG Clubhouse
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Afternoon/Evening hours: 3:00pm - 8pm.
HOURLY WAGE: $15.50/ hour
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Teen Youth Development Professional (“YDP”) has delegated responsibility from the Unit Director and/or Program Director for the implementation of programs, activities under their supervision. The program and activities will involve teens within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. These programs will focus on youth development by providing a sense of competence, a sense of usefulness, a sense of belonging, and a sense of power and ownership.
The Youth Development Professional will maintain an open line of communication with club staff, volunteers, and supervisors regarding program concerns or progress, and issues pertaining to youth.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- Promote and stimulate program participation.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
- Provide members with instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback on their progress.
- Establish a program setting that insures the health and safety of our members.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
- Implementation of National Boys & Girls Club Programs
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all times.
Supervision
- Supervising and coordinating teen youth development programs.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of youth participants by implementing appropriate supervision protocols and risk management procedures.
- Addressing conflicts or issues that arise among teens in a constructive and timely manner.
- Conducting evaluations and assessments of program effectiveness, gathering feedback from teens for future planning.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in special programs and/or events.
2. Participate in Youth Development Training
3. Lifting in excess of 45lbs will be required at times.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience in working with teens.
- Ability to motivate teens and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for teens.
- Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be responsible and reliable.
