Position Overview:
BGCSM is seeking a full-time Behavioral Support Specialist to join its team! This position will work closely with both the Leadership and Program Teams, to enhance the social and emotional well-being of our members.
This role is designed to provide direct, in the moment support to club members and staff by applying trauma- and resilience-informed approaches. The position will collaborate with schools and other community partners to deliver comprehensive mental health services and support within the BGCSM environment. The Behavioral Support Specialist will also act as the onsite point of contact for social work interns.
Salary for this position commensurate with experience, education level and licensure. Those seeking a master’s degree in social work (MSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Work with Program Team to add social emotional learning opportunities to existing BGCSM programs.
- Collaborate with schools and other community partners to deliver comprehensive mental health services and support within the BGCSM environment.
- Provide direct, in the moment, clinical support to club members, addressing emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
- Maintain partnerships with local colleges and universities for the clinical social work intern program.
- Deliver training sessions on trauma-informed practices to enhance staff ability to support club members and improve professional well-being.
- Develop and implement recommendations for procedural changes to support a trauma-informed environment, in collaboration with clubhouse leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in social work or other related field and relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in providing clinical services to children, adolescents, and families.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and resilience-building strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in delivering training and technical assistance to staff preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to professional development and staying informed about best practices in the field.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary commensurate with experience

Working Conditions:
- Full-time, salaried position with on-site responsibilities at various BGCSM clubhouses.
- Monday - Friday (40hrs); Must be flexible to include some evening hours.
- Occasional travel between clubhouses may be required (South Portland & Auburn)
- Mileage Reimbursement
- May be required to stand or sit at least 4 hours per day.
- May be required to use a computer for at least 4 hours per day.
