Title: Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine is seeking a full time Maintenance Tech to join its team! The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the execution of maintenance and repairs of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities related activities. Primary locations are Portland and South Portland Clubhouses with occasional travel to the Lewiston and Auburn Clubhouses. Successful candidates will thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Monitor and maintain the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, offices, program spaces, parking lots and outdoor area at both the Portland and South Portland Clubhouses.
· Ensure outdoor grounds are free of debris/garbage and perform lawn care when necessary.
· Manage and execute work order requests in a timely manner and according to applicable codes and safety requirements.
· Manage routine maintenance of facilities, property, and equipment; Execute or coordinate repairs as needed.
· Assist Director in management of service contracts and vendor agreements pertaining to facilities maintenance.
· Facilitate service vendor requests when appropriate (IE: HVAC, plumbing, elevators, vehicle repair, etc.); May be assigned as point of contact for onsite repairs.
· Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions, including snow removal.
· Custodial tasks at South Portland Clubhouse
· Manage janitorial and maintenance inventory levels; Purchase and reconcile as needed.
· Ensure BGCSM is compliant with OSHA and Hazardous materials standards.
Basic Qualifications:
· HS Diploma or GED equivalent OR combination of training and experience
· 1-3 years’ experience in facilities management or related field.
· Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, low pressure boiler systems, and fire safety.
· Experience with construction projects.
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Reliable transportation to travel between clubhouse locations and for supply runs (20% of time).
· Knowledge of MS Office Suite
· Must hold a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record; ability to drive a 12-person passenger van.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing or other related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in facilities management.
Skills and Abilities:
· Adept in situations requiring diagnostics or troubleshooting.
· Strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Exceptional time management skills and keen attention to detail
· Multi-task orientated and possess the ability to adapt to changes.
· Flexible and willing to contribute, when necessary, on projects outside of own department
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Compensation and benefits:
- Full Time, Hourly
- Monday - Friday 8a-6p; (40hrs) – flexible depending on organizational needs.
- $22-$25 per hour depending on experience.
- 17 (days) PTO and 5 (Days) MEPL annually during the first 2 years; increases with length of service.

Work Environment including physical requirements:
- Must be able to navigate all areas of the facility including, but not limited to roof, basement, pool deck, vehicles, etc.
- Travel 20% of the time between facilities or to pick up supplies.
- Must be able to lift, carry, reach, bend, push or pull up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to use a ladder of up to 20 ft.
- May be required to stand for long periods of time of at least 4 hours per day.
- Must be able to sit and engage in prolonged computer use for up to 4 hours per day.
- Ability to drive 12-person passenger van
