The Athletics Program Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor supports the coordination and delivery of high-quality athletic programming for youth at our Clinton County sites. This part-time role focuses on fostering physical activity, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles through recreational and structured sports activities. The Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of athletic initiatives, working closely with Club staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure youth have consistent and safe access to athletic opportunities.

This part-time role focuses on fostering physical activity, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles through recreational and structured sports activities. The Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of athletic initiatives, working closely with Club staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure youth have consistent and safe access to athletic opportunities.
BGCNIC serves 3,000 children ages five to 18 at 30 sites across northern Indiana through summer and before and after-care programming, with a strong focus on social and emotional learning, college and workforce readiness, and academic enrichment to ensure every child has a chance to meet his or her potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Major responsibilities include:
- Support the implementation of athletic programming at Clinton County Club sites.
- Coordinate and facilitate recreational and competitive sports activities appropriate for youth.
- Assist with the scheduling of practices, games, open gym nights, and special sports events.
- Maintain a safe, fun, and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and skill-building.
- Help manage athletic equipment and ensure its proper use, storage, and upkeep.
- Collaborate with site-level staff and the Managing Director to align programming with Club goals.
- Provide basic coaching and mentoring to Club members to encourage participation and development.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of volunteer coaches and referees.
- Communicate effectively with families and caregivers about athletic offerings and schedules.
- Track participation and gather informal feedback to support program improvement.
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold the values of Boys & Girls Clubs.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational safety and supervision policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
- Experience in athletics, recreation, coaching, or working with youth is highly desirable.
- CPR and First Aid certified (or willingness to complete training).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable leading youth groups and facilitating activities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Must be enthusiastic, dependable, and committed to youth development. Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping young people grow through sports. Should be a team player who is proactive, adaptable, and committed to creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all Club members.
