Position Overview:
The Assistant Esports Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Wakefield Esports Arena daily after school. They will assist in the development and implementation of Esports curriculum working with youth aged 11 . They will be responsible for taking care of the technology in the room and keeping it clean and organized. The position requires flexibility working outside of Esports and assisting with childcare throughout the organization.
Schedule: Mon - Fri 12pm - 6pm but with some weekend availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight
- Run a daily Esports program out of one of the Esports Arenas. Each program runs a daily activity and uses Esports as a vehicle to teach youth important life skills
- Building positive relationships with youth as you coach them in Esports
- Assist in the creation and implementation of Esports curriculum
- Using positive behavior management skills to manage the Esports Arena and to foster a positive environment
- Other tasks & projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required or Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with youth aged 11
- Passionate and knowledgeable about League Of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers, and Marvel Rivals, and willingness to implement different games, or learn games as needed
Skills and experience:
- Must be extremely comfortable with working with youth of all ages, both children and teenagers, able to lead group conversations, demonstrate tutorials, resolve conflicts and moderate the spaces as a fun, but trusted role model
- Ability to fluently navigate Discord, Google Workspace, RIOT client, Steam and Epic Games stores including in-game settings
- Must be a creative thinker, able to come up with solutions to issues, and/or propose new ways to approach situations on the fly, including pivoting daily plans, writing and rewriting rules, and taking the initiative to define the status quo in Esports spaces.

Organization-wide responsibilities:
Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by the Boys & Girls Club; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BGC policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BGC, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate BGC staff.
