Position Overview:
The Team Lead at INspire Café is a key leadership role responsible for guiding and supporting entry-level employees as they develop their skills. This role also involves ensuring daily operations such as opening and closing, food and beverage production, maintaining a clean environment, excellent teamwork and customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and support team to meet production goals while ensuring excellent customer service.
- Oversee staff tasks, maintain a smooth workflow, and ensure efficiency in order taking, preparation, and service.
- Provide ongoing support and training to promote employee growth and skill development.
- Organize and manage the team to keep operations on schedule and maintain a productive environment.
- Maintain ServSafe Certification with Allergen Awareness Training.
- Maintain and report inventory of all goods and supplies weekly.
- Transporting goods and supplies from one location to another.
- Training our interns and new employees.
- Receiving and putting away orders of supplies and products.
- Maintain equipment (e.g., grinders, coffee machines) by cleaning, troubleshooting, and scheduling repairs.
- Ensure the café customer space and work areas are clean, sanitary, and organized.
- Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints.
- All other job duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
- Basic math and money-handling skills
- Strong multitasking abilities, balancing production demands while supporting and overseeing staff.
- Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations and maintain a positive work environment.
- Excellent listening and communication skills to effectively engage with customers and coworkers.
- Basic coffee knowledge (e.g., preparing common coffee beverages); advanced knowledge of roasting, grinding, and sourcing is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and foster positive interactions.
- Teamwork skills to collaborate efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience as a barista, food server, or in a similar role.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred but not required).
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment and knowledge of sanitation regulations is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant training is a plus.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Able to stand and move about throughout the entire shift time with the exceptions of breaks.
- Reliable transportation
Organization-wide responsibilities:
Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by the Boys & Girls Club; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BGC policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BGC, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate BGC staff.
Hours:
Tuesday-Saturday open-close which is roughly 9:00am-3:00pm; 25- 30 hours a week.
Open to splitting hours between 2 people
