JOB SUMARY
The Director of Grants & Compliance serves as the primary staff member to identify, apply for
and manage reporting and compliance with federal, state and private grants supporting the
organization. The Director collaborates with other staff and community partners to create
compelling grant proposals and funding requests, track results, produce progress reports and
ensure the organization complies with grant requirements. This individual is expected to
promote quality, growth, safety and cost-effective management of resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Grant Prospecting and Writing – 60% of time:
• Effectively identify federal, state, local government and private grant-making entities
capable and inclined to support organizational priorities
• Work with organization staff to learn about projects and organizational needs that could
be funded with grants
• Research, prepare, write and submit grant proposals and requests to federal, state, local
government and private entities according to grant requirements and by established
deadlines
• Collaborate with other staff to prepare budgets, program briefs and data to support all
grant requests
• Secure new and renew existing grants totaling approximately $1 million annually with an
emphasis on growing grant funding each year
• Track all grant applications and funding outcomes
• Achieve grant fundraising goals according to established schedules
Grant Management & Reporting – 20% of time:
• Develop strategies and solutions and make recommendations about the organization’s
strategy for securing grants
• Coordinate the grants management process including oversight of pre- and post-award
data management, reporting, stewardship and multi-year grant requirements
• Develop and produce grant-making activity and progress reports
• Prepare and deliver grant reports according to requirements of the grant-making entities
by established deadlines
Compliance Management – 20% of time:

policies and procedures
• Conduct compliance visits at organization sites, as needed, to ensure compliance with
grant requirements
• Maintain compliance scorecards for each organization site and help staff develop action
plans to mitigate or rectify and compliance issues
• Participate in necessary training and stay informed on the latest federal, state and local
compliance regulations impacting the organization and provide necessary training and
guidance to staff

• Manage time sensitive tasks on a daily basis
• Work within established budgets
• Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Two or more years of successful experience identifying, writing and managing grants of
at least $250,000 annually for a nonprofit organization
• Excellent communication skills to include persuasive writing, public speaking and
interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational data
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently
• An unquestionable work ethic and the ability to accomplish established goals
• A valid driver's license
• The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time (several hours) without
interruption
• Experience managing fundraising and sales pipeline data in Salesforce is a plus
ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is expected to work from the Organization’s Administrative Offices in Columbus,
Georgia in a normal office environment with occasional out-of-office meetings visiting potential
grant-making entities and to organization sites to monitor compliance.
Salary : $250,000
