POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: 21st CCLC Supplemental Music Director
DEPARTMENT: Programs
REPORTS TO: 21ST CCLC Supplemental Project Director

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; some weekends are required.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible to build a strong music pilot program for the Boys & Girls Club of the Golden Triangle. Manages all music volunteers in collaboration with the Community Engagement Officer, Responsible to expand the program throughout the Golden Triangle area by 2025. Will engage a minimum of 100 kids per semester (Winter, Summer, and Fall) in music program activities at all program sites of BGCGT. Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement all MUSIC related programs and activities. Responsible for assessing, evaluating and reporting all MUSIC programs and activities at assigned locations. Provides supervision and control over youth, team members, and volunteers. Provides vision for the MUSIC program area for all age groups and is responsible for maintaining supplies and equipment as it grows and expands. Seek out additional opportunities for members through community partners and relationships. Host an annual MUSIC festival in which members will highlight their talents and creations to their families and community. Collaborating with other Boys & Girls Clubs in the area. Create and implement a weekly schedule for members. Assist in planning, developing, oversee implementation, and supervising MUSIC programs.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership 1.
o Build relationships with public and private institutions and individuals who can bring additional support to the music program.
o Develop and enhance the curriculum for music pods at each site, (serving at least 10-15 kids). This should include a strong collaboration with the goals of the BGCGT 21st CCLC Supplemental program.
o Hire and train Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) and volunteers who lead music programs including.
o Manage the budget of all music support for fundraising efforts.
o Collaborate with Program Director, Program Coordinators/Directors, and team members on program and curriculum ideas.
o Explores and grows the program throughout Boys & Girls Club of The Golden Triangle.
o Help with recruitment and training MUSIC team members, volunteers and interns
o Represent the Boys & Girls Club of The Golden Triangle and interpret its objectives, standards and programs.
o Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
o Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
o Create and maintain a culture of respect within the Club.
o Use social media, flyers, calendars, etc. to market programs and encourage regular participation among teen members.
o Attend mandatory team members meetings and team members training sessions.
o Employees must always maintain a positive and professional attitude/demeanor while working.
o Will be required to drive Club Youth Bus/Van (depending on driving record and age) for Club’s afterschool and summer transportation program.
Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.

o Promote and stimulate program participation, implement/assist in various enrichment programs
o Implement self-esteem and variety of learning activities
o Provide positive role modeling
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
o Plan and execute MUSIC activities for K-12 during fall/spring semesters and Day Camps.
o Maintain and submit all record keeping including, but not limited to, program reports, member enrollment, attendance reports and activity calendars.
o Ensures that all MUSIC supplies are stocked and in good condition, submits orders for purchase of supplies and maintains an organized and tidy work area.
o Promote, recruit and implement all MUSIC programs at assigned sites.
o Collaborate with potential community partners (museums, libraries, corporations, schools, etc.) to develop field trips, volunteer engagement opportunities, curriculum partnerships, etc.
o Evaluate program curriculum and implementation.
o Participate in BGCA national program and training opportunities (Netsmartz, Digital Arts Festival, My Future, robotics, coding, media programming, etc.) as necessary/desired.
o Work with Teen Director when necessary to provide opportunities for teens interested in MUSIC related fields, such as field trips, mentorships, internships etc.
o Participate in outcome measurement processes and other evaluation programs, including BGCA's annual Impact Assessment and National Youth Outcomes Initiative.
o Participation in special programs and/or events as assigned.
o Support all Club sites with their music program activities.
o Knowledge and use of BGCA.net.
o Will be required to work some weekends.
o May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or BGCGT Management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical requirements include some physical exertion such as lifting (up to 40 lbs.), stretching and bending in a Club setting as well as standing for long periods of time.
The work environment is in a club environment and includes interaction with children aged 5-18 and can be noisy at times. The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of the Golden Triangle locations are required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions at times. You need to be available for work occasionally on weekends. Be 21 years or older to serve as an approved driver for kids when going to performances or field trip activities.

o 2-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred
o 1-3 years working with youth or equivalent experience.
o College Degree preferred in a music education discipline or equivalent experience
o Experience working with youth ages 5-18
o Experience in a leadership position
o Knowledge of youth development
o Ability to supervise and control large groups of children at a given time with respect
o Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
o Ability to motivate youth and deal effectively with behavior problems
o Ability to deal with the general public.
o Strong communication skills both with team members, members and management.
o Valid State Driver's License.
o Positive attitude and disposition.
o Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
o Knowledge and/or experience with guitar, recorder, drums, engineering equipment and software.
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club’s Team members (professional and volunteer), Club members, Program Director and Unit Directors to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, Universities, colleges, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
