The Prevention Specialist is responsible for planning and executing life skills education with fidelity to curriculum and funding requirements. This position is responsible for coordination, planning and implementation of activities with youth, while working cooperatively with other club units and collaborating agencies to full fill the mission of Boys and Girls Clubs of The Great Lakes Bay Region mission..
· Acts independently; consistently exercise discretion and judgment in performing job duties.
· Makes recommendations for the purchase of program and activity supplies.
· Participates in various and community-based communities.
· Assists in the development and implementation of project policies and procedures.
· Coordinates, delivers, evaluates the activities of the project or program.
· Works cooperatively with club units and collaborating agencies.
· Delivers prevention programming and lessons in small group settings related to Life Skills and healthy recreation activities.
· Coordinates with and reports to the funding source on a required basis.
· Promotes program service to agencies, club units and community activities.
· Participates in performance improvement activities.
· Provides for the age-specific needs of the population served according to program standards, as evidenced by observation documentation and peer feedback.
· Other tasks as identified by supervisor or required by funding source.
· Minimum of a high school diploma or GED Required.
· Experience working with youth planning and implementing activities and programs.
· Ability to motivate youth and manage behaviors.
· Ability to lesson plan and implement quality programs for youth.
· Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
· Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
· Participate in and successfully complete required training.
