Position Overview
BGCP is actively searching for dynamic and enthusiastic Summer Youth Program Leaders. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating enriching in-person academic projects, Camp Galileo activities, and outdoor play sessions during the afternoons for elementary or middle school youth at our Foster City Elementary Location in Foster City, CA. This position offers a distinct chance to cultivate transformative connections with program participants, acquire essential professional development and leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the community. Employment Status: Part-Time, Seasonal/Temporary
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE (Depending On Experience)
Location: Foster City, CA
Foster City Elementary School
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squating, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 80% walking & standing. Work environment noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy at times. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.
As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) test.

Foster City Elementary School
- Galileo Training Date: Saturday, May 31st (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
- BGCP Training Dates: June 13th & June 16th - June 18th
- Program Dates: June 20th – July 18th (excluding July 4, observed holiday)
- Work Shift : 9:30 AM - 5:15 PM
- Innovate, execute, and guide captivating and interactive enrichment projects and activities for classes of approximately 20 students.
- Deliver an enjoyable and hands-on outdoor play curriculum.
- Dedicate daily preparation time to organizing materials, reviewing lesson plans, and gearing up for the next day's activities.
- Apply effective classroom management techniques and behavioral coaching strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
- Provide support during meal supervision, recess, and other student activities.
- Attend mandatory orientations, training sessions, and team meetings.
- Enforce and adhere to all health and safety protocols.
- Establish positive relationships with students.
- Foster engagement and contribute to students' ongoing learning.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, fostering a vibrant team dynamic.
- At least 18 years of age
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
- Flexible in navigating a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience working with K-8 youth (plus)
