The Grant Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for tracking grant spending and submission of monthly invoices to various funding agencies. The Grant Accounting Specialist will interact with finance leadership and the grant management team on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of expenditures tracking and will perform various analyses as needed. Additionally, the Specialist will have the opportunity to expand skillsets by working closely with finance leadership with other accounting projects as needed.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Maintain accurate cost tracking worksheets in Excel or other software for assigned grants and ensure expenses are accurately coded to the appropriate grants in compliance with grant terms
- Prepare grant reimbursement invoices to meet various funding agency documentation requirements and deadlines
- Post reimbursement invoices in accounting system and follow up on delinquent invoices
- Prepare revenue and expense variance analysis under the guidance of finance leadership and as needed by grant management team
- Effectively communicate with grant writer and grant managers to understand the parameters for each new grant received
- Evaluate current processes and tracking worksheets for efficiencies
Qualifications
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQIRED:
- High School diploma
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Ability to analyze data and prepare various types of reporting as directed by management
- Ability to interact professionally with club staff, board members, volunteers, and other related agencies verbally and in writing
- Initiative, self-motivation, and function both independently and in a team environment
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in process evaluation and improvement
- Previous experience with grant tracking

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
- Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 8 hours or more
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
- Must be able to maneuver around an office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Continuous operation of computer and all other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
