Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio (BHGH) is seeking energetic professionals with a passion for developing youth to join our team as Youth Development Specialists. Youth Development Specialists serve as a primary care giver during their shift for Scholars-in-residence through which they teach social and independent living skills, expose the youth to new experiences and activities, and guide youth in career and life readiness/educational success. This in-person, second shift position involves 8-10 hours shifts, generally beginning in the early afternoon. There are currently opportunities for full-time and part-time roles. This is a live-out position.
Responsibilities
1. Youth Development
· Manage holistic development of Scholar goals (ie Academics, Social, Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical)
· Assist House Managers in monitoring academic performance and proper academic protocols (ie 7pm-9PM Study Hours)
· Facilitate positive interactions and support Scholars in daily responsibilities
2. Fostering Community
· Role model positive relationships within the community and with BHGH Stakeholders
· Collaborate across departments to engage Residential Scholars in BHGH out-of-school-time Academy Programming and stewardship opportunities
· Support relationships with external Academic Supports (Teachers, School Counselors, Tutors, Academy Team, etc.)
3. Household Management
· Transportation of Scholars from school and extracurricular activities
· Record keeping to include contributions to Scholar notes and goal progress monitoring
4. Healthy and Safe Environment
· Ensure the safety and security of the home and Scholars (ie medication protocol, utilizing de-escalation techniques, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field is preferred, equivalent experience working with youth with be considered
- Experience working with youth from similar communities preferred
- Certification in CPR, first-aid, and Crisis Prevention Intervention will be required, and provided as needed, as a condition of continued employment
- Be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a good driving record (no more than two moving violations)
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of record keeping and professional documentation standards

Compensation and Benefits
This is an in-person position with typical hours beginning early afternoon on weekdays. Full-time Individuals who regularly work 36-hour per week are eligible for benefits including group medical and dental coverage, 401(k) plan, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, long-term disability coverage and 125 Flex Benefit plan; Part-time employees are eligible for select benefits.

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio was formally incorporated in 1986. Since our doors opened over thirty years ago, Boys Hope Girls Hope has expanded from a single home serving five boys to a unified Campus of Hope with three residential homes, a robust out-of- school-time program (Academy) and a Post-Secondary Support & Scholarship program serving each Scholar for an average of 10 years.
During the 2024-2025 program year, Boys Hope Girls Hope will provide transformational opportunities to12 Residential Scholars 145 Community Based Academy Scholars (6th-12th Grade) 70 Post-Secondary Collegians & Fellows
