Position Overview:
As a Preventative Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the ensuring the continued functionality and longevity of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE). You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs are documented and aligned with OSHA – state and federal policies as well as company policies to drive a safe working environment and culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducting routine inspections of equipment to identify potential issues or signs of wear and tear; evaluating the condition of the components to determine the need for maintenance or repair
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks included but not limited to lubrications, cleaning, adjustments and component replacements to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan
Replacing the batteries in MHE equipment using electric power tools and hand tools
Use material handling equipment (center riders, long-forks, forklifts etc.) in a safe manner moving MHE to and from maintenance shop for repairs with proper certifications from company procedures and safety standards
Performing safety inspections in accordance with OSHA and company policies on all equipment prior to being released back to the floor for use
Maintaining quality standards of product throughout shift – working in a damage free manner
Performing a variety of mechanical repairs on electric forklifts and electric pallet jacks
Completing all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms and other documents accurately and timely
Performing basic soldering and welding skills
Using air powered equipment when necessary
Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment in the warehouse
Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Environment:
Warehouse Grocery – approx. 50F – 90F
Warehouse Perishable – approx. 26F - 60F
Warehouse Freezer – approx. 0F - -20F
Schedule:
3rd shift Monday - Friday
10:00pm – 6:30am
Experience:
Preferred: One (1) years technical experience – Automotive or Industrial Equipment
Preferred: MHE experience (Electric pallet jacks such as center riders or long forks; forklifts)
Own and Maintain up to date tools of the trade
Skills:
Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
