Job Description:
The Deputy Building Official / Senior Building Inspector will manage building department operations for an assigned client agency, applying knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to day-to-day functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage building department operations
- Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures
- Consult with engineers, architects, developers, contractors, and the public on construction and building code issues
- Plan review of minor projects for residential and commercial building
- Perform field inspections on all phases of residential and commercial construction
- Issue Certificates of Occupancy for completed projects
Requirements:
- Five (5) plus years as a building official or building inspector for a local or state fire or building department or equivalent related experience
- Must possess knowledge and application of plan review and construction processes
- Experience in the interpretation and application of building codes
- Advanced knowledge of California Building Codes
- Good driving record
Certifications:
- ICC Certified Building Official certification
- ICC Inspector certifications preferred
- ICC Plan Review certifications preferred
Compensation:
$45 - $60 an hour
