In-Office Work Requirement:
This position is a full-time, in-office role based at our Bel Air, MD location. The selected candidate is expected to report to the office Monday through Friday, working directly with our team to support billing and accounting needs. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, and candidates must be comfortable with a regular, on-site schedule.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Billing Supervisor to lead and manage a dedicated team of account representatives in our billing department. The Medical Billing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing billing functions, including claims submission to insurances, collection of payments, and ensuring accurate posting of collected funds. The ideal candidate will have a background in medical billing, along with excellent customer service and management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Conduct interviews and select the best candidates based on required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Provide training and mentorship to billing staff.
- Assign tasks and provide ongoing support as needed.
- Assist in conducting performance evaluations for the team.
Billing Oversight:
- Oversee the preparation of patient statements and bills.
- Manage billing processes to insurance companies and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Review billing staff work for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Supervise patient statement management and assist in locating hard-to-reach clients.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain a strong understanding of mental healthcare regulations, HIPAA compliance, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific policies.
- Ensure adherence to legal parameters for collection practices in accordance with company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Draft and distribute weekly reports on invoicing and billing metrics.
- Prepare and deliver monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) for insurance and patient account receivables.
Customer Support:
- Assist and resolve inquiries or disputes related to invoices or the billing process.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about changes in the insurance industry, billing procedures, and healthcare regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to improve team efficiency and the billing process.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field. (Preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or healthcare finance with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Preferred certifications: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of collection practices, laws, and billing procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience with medical record systems and billing software.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
