Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The Medical Receptionist will play a crucial role in maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly and professionally as they arrive at the facility.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software, ensuring optimal time management for both patients and providers.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process insurance claims, including Medicare, and verify patient eligibility.
- Handle phone inquiries, providing information about services and directing calls as necessary.
- Utilize office software such as Athenahealth or Eaglesoft for managing patient data and records.
- Assist with coding and billing tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
- Perform 10 key typing for data entry tasks related to patient information and medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare setting.
- Experience with medical scheduling software such as EPIC
- Familiarity with coding practices related to healthcare billing is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
