What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Associate / QA Tech position at Bradford Soap Works Inc?
Job Function: Performs visual, dimensional and functional inspection of packaging components, in-process material and finished products as part of the manufacturing process. Inspects production records and maintains QA inspection records. Reports nonconformance to QA/QC Manager and production. Initiates accept, hold or reject activities for products. Conducts routine testing of raw materials and finished product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs on-line quality checks to ensure that product conformances to customer requirements.
- Performs statistical sampling following ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 sampling requirements.
- Updates the status/releases of raw material, packaging components or finished product to ensure they are available for production or shipment on a timely bases.
- Performs routine testing of raw materials and finished products using instrumental and wet-chemical techniques.
- Calibrates, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains analytical instruments such as FTIR, Karl-Fischer, Refractometer, pH, and Conductivity Meters.
- Completes laboratory work and related activities following GLPs.
- Ensures compliance with cGMP requirements in the manufacturing and warehouse areas.
- Adheres to company safety policies.
- Complies with the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Environmental policies when handling and disposing of chemicals.
- Maintains the Document Control System including production records.
- Performs 2 year SOP reviews.
- Participates and helps facilitate quality and process improvement activities.
Additional Responsibilities:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Two years experience in a quality assurance/quality control position.
- Knowledge of Windows office software (Word, Excel)
- Ability to obtain required information from Oracle/Visual software programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with those contacted in the course of work, including employees at all levels.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
- General knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of work situations, organize work for appropriate and timely completion, and function independently in the absence of supervision.

Physical Working Conditions (Physical Capacities):
Capable of normal standing, bending and twisting consistent with assembly type operations. Capable of moderate to heavy lifting. Exposure to mild noise (machinery) and some mild nuisance dust. Climate conditions are consistent with those of a normal manufacturing/laboratory environment.
