Job Summary
The Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of insurance processes within a dental office. This position involves managing insurance verification, coordinating patient records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding practices.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payments.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for insurance purposes.
- Utilize ICD-9 coding for accurate billing and record-keeping.
- Assist patients with inquiries regarding their insurance coverage and claims status.
- Maintain organized office files related to insurance documentation and patient records.
- Support the administrative team in managing office operations as needed.
Skills
- Experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical records management.
- Proficient in ICD-9 coding and understanding of managed care processes.
- Familiarity with insurance verification procedures and medical terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
