JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician performs those duties that provide pharmaceutical care under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These duties include, but are not limited to order entry, medication cart filling, making IV admixtures using sterile technique, maintaining pharmacy inventory, filling employee prescriptions, processing charges, and maintaining floor stocks of medications.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred
Experience: One year of experience in a hospital or medical environment is preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Current Tennessee Pharmacy Technician registration is required within 90 days of employment*.
Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent national certification board within 90 days of employment*.

- An individual enrolled in or a graduate of a recognized school or college of pharmacy is defined as a pharmacy intern (TAC 63-10-204) and exempt from this registration requirement.
