Position Summary :
The Inventory Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory records, which currently consists of an outsourced, third-party model. The Inventory Cost Accountant should be detail-oriented and must have experience in the life sciences industry, including a basic understanding of FDA regulatory compliance. The Company currently utilizes lot specific identification costing method for inventory. The Inventory Cost Accountant should be familiar and have experience in various costing methods as the Company will likely pursue standard costing at some point in the future. The Inventory Cost Accountant will also be responsible for the management of the Company's third-party logistics provider, which includes oversight of any day-to-day issues, ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner.
Specific Duties :
- Oversee the accurate valuation of inventory using lot specific identification costing of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Reconcile monthly inventory records from external third parties with internal inventory records.
- Analyze and investigate inventory variances with various internal and external stakeholders. Implement corrective actions and propose improvements for our external vendors in inventory management.
- Assist in management of day-to-day operations of Braeburn's third-party logistics provider (3PL).
- Perform regular physical inventory counts as needed.
- Monthly, journalize the necessary inventory entries with appropriate documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and evaluate potential obsolescence items.
- Assist the Supply Chain team with demand planning activities and provide expertise and review of plans.
- Assist the Controller with other ad-hoc projects as needed.
