Job Overview:
The Corporate Accounting Manager, reporting to the Corporate Controller, is a critical member of the general ledger accounting team who will play an impactful role in transforming the day-to-day accounting operations at the company. This individual will assist the Corporate Controller in designing and implementing processes as the company undergoes its finance transformation to modernize systems and operations, enhance its internal control environment, and improve existing accounting policies and procedures. Throughout this finance transformation, the Corporate Accounting Manager will be working on initiatives across the company’s divisions as well as with other key stakeholders such as Operations, Finance, IT, and other business partners.
The Corporate Accounting Manager will additionally be responsible for recording accounting transactions, preparing and reviewing various balance sheet reconciliations, and driving efficiencies with the existing accounting team. The Corporate Accounting Manager will be an advocate for process improvement, transparency, teamwork, and maintaining high quality work within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations: Manage general accounting tasks, month-end close, preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.
- System Implementations: Evaluate and implement systems to drive efficiencies in transaction processing and month-end close.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements, including G/L posting, reconciliation automation, and streamlining of manual month-end close tasks.
- Technical Accounting Research: Evaluate and propose accounting treatment for unique transactions.
- Financial Statement Processes: Develop, implement, and document financial statement close processes and procedures.
- Team Development: Provide guidance and coaching to ensure high team performance.
- Financial Analysis: Compile, analyze, and report financial information, including payments and cash flow analysis.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate the annual audit and prepare financial statements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Professional Experience: 5 years experience in an accounting role responsible for financial analysis, financial reporting, technical accounting, or general ledger and experience managing a team. Audit experience preferred.
- System Implementations: Experience implementing financial/accounting systems.
- Process Improvement: Involvement in accounting department transformations and/or designing and implementing process improvements.
- Technical Accounting: Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP) and prior experience researching accounting guidance and drafting accounting memos.
- Communication Skills: Ability to identify and articulate challenges in day-to-day accounting tasks to team leadership for process improvements.
- Experience in Large Companies: Worked at companies with revenues over $300M.
- ASC 606: Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition for construction services contracts.
Work Environment
- Location: Ability to work in our Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
- Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.

- Salary: $135,000-$150,000 per year (The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position. The individual salary will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.)
