Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing exceptional eye care services to patients. Your responsibilities will include performing preliminary eye tests, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, along with experience in medical office operations.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity and assessing eye health.
- Assist in the fitting and dispensing of contact lenses.
- Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Take and record vital signs as needed.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication, treatment, and visual issues referring to the optometrist as necessary.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Collaborate with optometrists to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain outgoing referrals.
- Conduct inventory of ophthalmic supplies including pharmaceuticals and instruments on a regular basis.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Previous work experience in a medical office or optical setting is preferred.
- Retail sales experience is a plus, along with understanding retail math principles.
- Proficiency in optical terminology and practices is advantageous.
