Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing excellent patient care by assisting optometrists in various clinical tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, proficiency with electronic health record systems, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.
Duties
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by performing preliminary tests and gathering patient history.
- Measure and record vital signs, including visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
- Utilize Epic systems for managing patient records and scheduling appointments.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic.
- Provide support at the front desk, including greeting patients and managing check-in/check-out processes.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and assist with eyewear fittings.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations, particularly in pediatrics settings.
Experience
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician or in a similar clinical role is preferred.
- Familiarity with ophthalmology practices and procedures is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, enhancing our ability to cater to diverse patient needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring high-quality care.
