The Transportation Department of the Braintree Public School District is seeking a part-time Transportation Office Assistant to work in the Adams Street BPS Transportation Office.
Job Goals: To assist the Transportation Manager and the Dispatcher in running the Transportation Office and in providing the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of school bus operations for the District.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Answers transportation phone calls and emails, and assists parents, staff, school departments, and vendors with their transportation questions and needs
- General office clerical work
- Trains to use and maintains transportation routing software, Traversa
- Trains to use and maintains transportation information in the student database, Aspen
- Assists in dispatching
- Assists in adding new students to routes
- Maintains routing updates
- Tracks drivers' training hours
- Tracks monthly special education bus counts
- Assists in school bus driving, if necessary
- Other duties as seen fit by the Transportation Manager and Superintendent of Schools
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suite
- Willing to train to use District software (Traversa, Aspen)
- Hold a valid CDL Class B with airbrakes, passangers, and school bus
- General knowledge of school bus transportation
- Good customer service skills
- Team player
Hours: 18 hours/wk: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday mornings (starting 6:30am) and Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Some flexibility in hours may be necessary.
Must pass mandatory background checks.
