Online Orton-Gillingham Tutor (Adults)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orton-Gillingham tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tutoring college-aged and adult students using the Orton-Gillingham approach. This method is a highly structured, multi-sensory, and phonetic approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one online tutoring sessions using the Orton-Gillingham approach.
- Develop personalized lesson plans tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each student.
- Assess students' progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide regular feedback to students and their families regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other educators and specialists to create a comprehensive support system for students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and session notes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certification in the Orton-Gillingham approach (e.g., Orton-Gillingham Academy certification).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience tutoring college-aged and adult students using the Orton-Gillingham method.
- Strong understanding of dyslexia and other learning differences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Proficiency in using technology for remote tutoring sessions (if applicable).
