Job Overview:

As the Sales Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing sales team, as well as driving sales performance management processes to ensure consistent growth and success. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of sales processes and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Development:
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard top talent to build a strong, diverse, and high-performing sales team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to sales managers and representatives to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Develop and implement training programs and sales strategies to improve sales effectiveness and productivity.
  • Create a motivating and supportive team environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Sales Performance Management:
  • Set clear sales targets, goals, and KPIs for the sales team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market potential.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, providing regular feedback, guidance, and actionable insights to sales managers and reps.
  • Implement performance improvement plans for underperforming team members and recognize and reward high performers.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Strategic Sales Planning:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and market trends.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify new business opportunities, target markets, and potential partnerships.
  • Analyze market data, customer feedback, and competitor activity to adjust sales strategies and tactics as needed.
  • Ensure consistent sales forecasting, pipeline management, and accurate reporting.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive long-term business growth.
  • Support the sales team in negotiating contracts and closing deals, ensuring the best possible outcomes for both the company and the customer.
  • Oversee the implementation of CRM tools and processes to enhance customer engagement and sales effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with marketing, operations, and finance teams to align sales efforts with broader company goals and strategies.
  • Provide feedback and insights to product and service teams to improve offerings based on customer needs and market demand.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting activities to ensure alignment of sales objectives with company priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 7 years of progressive sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving sales growth and managing high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong experience in hiring, coaching, and developing sales talent, with a focus on performance management and team success.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions to optimize sales performance.
  • Knowledge of the commercial paving or construction industry is strongly preferred but not required.
