What You'll Do

The Community Standards Advisor - Design Review (CSA-DR) collaborates with residents, staff, and the Covenants Committee to guide and facilitate the review and approval of residential property modifications. This role emphasizes educating residents on design guidelines, offering guidance and assistance throughout the application process, and ensuring that property enhancements align with community standards.

Additionally, the CSA-DR supports covenants enforcement, working alongside the CSA - Inspections (CSA-I) team to conduct various inspections, including resale inspections as needed. The CSA-DR will also contribute to cross-departmental projects and initiatives that reflect the Association’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Essential Functions

  • Professionally assists, advises, supports, and educates homeowners on the importance of maintaining community design standards. Guides residents through the design review application process, explaining requirements, timelines, and expectations to foster understanding and compliance with aesthetic guidelines.
  • Reviews design standards and performs site visits to evaluate proposed and existing modifications. Evaluates architectural modification requests based on established criteria and community standards, providing informed recommendations for approval or denial to ensure alignment with the neighborhood’s aesthetic goals.
  • Works closely with homeowners throughout the design review process, reviewing incoming applications to ensure they are complete and meet submission guidelines. Assists applicants with any necessary adjustments, then compiles and submits finalized applications to the Manager and Covenants Committee for formal review and decision, ensuring a smooth and timely processing experience.
  • Drafts clear, detailed decision letters to inform homeowners of the outcome of their applications, including any conditions, approvals, or required changes. Ensures that communication is professional, constructive, and aligned with the Association’s standards and policies.
  • Identifies and promptly reports problematic, unusual, or complex matters to the Manager and/or Administrator for further guidance. Provides background and recommendations to aid in resolution, ensuring that unique or challenging situations are handled effectively.
  • Regularly supports and communicates with the Community Standards Advisor - Inspections (CSA-I) team, assisting with secondary functions related to property compliance and covenants enforcement. Collaborates to ensure a cohesive approach to maintaining neighborhood standards and addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Organizes and maintains accurate, detailed records of applications, decisions, inspections, and communications. Ensures that records are comprehensive and up-to-date, supporting transparency and ease of access for reporting and compliance tracking.

Secondary Functions

  • Performs various types of lot inspections using established standards and methods, sends related correspondence, and prepares associated reports.
  • Promptly and professionally responds to resident-reported concerns and violations.
  • Performs resale inspections in times of high volume or as needed.

Other Functions

  • Assists and supports Manager with department initiatives and projects.
  • Supports Resident Services and front desk operations as requested.
  • Assists and supports the Lifestyles department with event staffing when requested.
  • Performs related work and all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

A. Knowledge & Skills:

  • Professional, friendly, helpful, and team approach on all tasks and interactions with residents and staff.
  • Working knowledge and experience in customer service and/or property management, community association management or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Awareness, knowledge, and understanding of community association documents and standards, or the ability to learn and become proficient in this area.
  • Building, construction, and grounds maintenance experience helpful.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in software programs specific to the position.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard office and administrative practices and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have use of personal transportation.

B. Abilities:

  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Regular, skilled use of personal computers and other office machines.
  • Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials, tools and objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Normal eye-hand-foot coordination.

C. Work Environment:

  • Outdoor environment - typically walks or stands on variable terrain, bends, stoops, and must have ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Office environment - typically sits or stands, stretches, bends and stoops.
  • Primarily office environment with frequent property visits or drives:
  • Regular daytime schedule with rare night and weekend work for inspections, events, programs, and other essential tasks.
