What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lecturer in Mathematics (Introduction to Probability and Statistics) Spring 2026 position at Brandeis University?

The Department of Mathematics at Brandeis University seeks a part-time instructor for the course Math 8a, “Introduction to Probability and Statistics" for the spring 2026 semester. The course examines discrete probability spaces, random variables, expectation, variance, approximation by the normal curve, sample mean and variance, and confidence intervals. This four-credit course fulfills quantitative reasoning and science requirements and is intended for undergraduates.
Requirements for this position: PhD or ABD in mathematics or related fields. Experience in teaching college-level math courses is preferred. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, a draft course syllabus, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is February 18, 2025.
This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
