Play a critical role in the fight against Jewish hate.

As part of the Robert Kraft Family-Brandeis Initiative on Antisemitism, this 1 to 2-year fellowship offers any recent Brandeis graduate an opportunity to work with the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS). FCAS launched the Stand Up To Jewish Hate campaign in 2023, reaching millions of people across the United States and establishing the Blue Square as a universal symbol to stand against antisemitism and all forms of hate. Through powerful positive messaging and partnerships with prominent Jewish and non-Jewish organizations, FCAS is strongly positioned to drive effective change. FCAS leverages unique social media monitoring technology to drive effective rapid response to Jewish hate and all hate, in addition to proactive programs that galvanize popular support for the Jewish community.

The Foundation to Combat Antisemitism aims to inspire and mobilize all people to become upstanders against Jewish hate.
Research Fellow

This Research Fellow will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing the news and social media and sharing insights that inform the day-to-day content and marketing at the Foundation. They will also do analysis and create reports for university leaders and community leaders on antisemitism in their areas. This role is part of the FCAS Command Center, which actively monitors antisemitic events and hate speech against Jewish communities on social media.
This position reports to Steve Mulder, FCAS Senior Director of the Command Center.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate for this role would be a recent Brandeis undergraduate with a keen eye for detail and strong research skills. We welcome all majors to apply, including but not limited to Politics, Psychology, Sociology, Linguistics, English, History, and Business. They should possess excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, and be proficient in using tools including Google Slides and Microsoft Office. Curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to making a difference through their work is essential in this position, which involves analyzing current events and online conversation related to antisemitism, collaborating with teams, and producing informative content for newsletters, reports, and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct daily research on current events, analyzing news stories involving antisemitic incidents or hate speech, and monitoring real-time social media conversations on antisemitism and synthesizing findings.
  • Create customized monthly reports for university leaders about online conversation related to their campus, to help them better engage with these topics and fight against prejudice and violence. Create similar reports for community leaders in specific cities.
  • Identify and analyze long-term trends in online Jewish hate speech, examining variations by source, age, or category as required.
  • Support meetings and develop presentations for stakeholders, visitors, and partner organizations by conducting relevant research and providing insightful analysis.
Communication:
  • Collaborate with the content team on messaging for social media responses to recent antisemitism-related events.
  • Produce concise articles for a weekly newsletter educating the public on trends related to antisemitism and analyses that shed new light on online trends.
  • Engage in special projects, including research and analysis as needed and the synthesis of external research findings, to contribute to organizational objectives.
Salary: This position works in person at the FCAS offices at Gillette Stadium! Salary range is $50,000 - $55,000.
