About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with ASC 606, and process optimization for a fast-paced SaaS environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in revenue accounting, enjoys working cross-functionally, and thrives in a dynamic and evolving business landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Revenue Recognition:
- Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606 and company policies.
- Review and analyze contracts to determine proper revenue treatment, including identifying performance obligations, variable considerations, and contract modifications.
- Work closely with Sales to structure customer agreements in compliance with accounting policies.
- Month-End Close & Reporting:
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals for revenue-related accounts.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain deferred revenue schedules and prepare revenue-related reports for management.
- Billing & Collections Support:
- Collaborate with billing teams to ensure invoices align with contractual agreements.
- Assist in reconciling unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and subscription-based revenue streams.
- Support the AR team in resolving revenue-related disputes.
- Process Improvement & Systems Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to automate and enhance revenue accounting processes.
- Support system implementations and improvements in ERP and revenue recognition tools (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora, HubSpot, Maxio, or RevPro).
- Audit & Compliance:
- Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue recognition and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and assist in documentation efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and best practices for SaaS revenue recognition.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of revenue accounting experience, preferably in SaaS or technology industries.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and SaaS-specific revenue considerations.
- Experience with ERP and revenue automation systems (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora, Maxio, RevPro, or HubSpot).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- CPA certification (preferred but not required).
