Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop accurate design solutions.
- Prepare and modify designs based on project specifications, client requirements, and engineering feedback.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and company protocols.
- Review and validate drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation to accompany drawings.
- Assist in troubleshooting design-related challenges and recommending practical solutions.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project files.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure feasibility of designs in manufacturing and installation processes.
- Support the implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) standards within drafting processes.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
- Working with CNC machine operator to develop cut files for pre-cast shapes and formwork.
- Operate the CNC Styrofoam machine to cut and assemble forms for refractory pre-cast shapes, filling in for the CNC machine operator when necessary.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior drafter.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, standards, and drafting software advancements.
- Participate in site visits and field measurements when required to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure material specifications align with design requirements.
Qualifications
- High proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Understanding of mechanical, structural, and refractory drafting principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Experience in industrial environments such as refractory, mechanical, steel fabrication, or similar sectors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn and operate the CNC Styrofoam machine as required.
- Diploma or degree in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of drafting experience in an industrial setting.
- Previous experience in refractory or mechanical industry is preferred.
- CET designation is considered an asset.
