We are looking for an experienced front desk person with 3 years experience in a busy medical practice.
Brandywine Podiatry is looking for an enthusiastic team member who will help to guide the patient experience from calling into the office, to getting back to their treatment room while ensuring their account and medical information is accurate and up-to-date. As the first and last touchpoint for patients, this role is essential to ensuring that our commitment to excellence is demonstrated every day. Our ideal candidate will have an amazing phone presence, have careful attention to detail and be excited about keeping patient accounts accurate and the doctor's schedule in order. We are looking for someone with several years expereince at the front desk of a busy medical practice.
Job Summary
The role of Patient Account Specialist is to work directly with patients in scheduling and checking them in and out of their appointments. They are the first and last touchpoint with the patients of Brandywine Podiatry and are essential to ensuring the proper flow of the office as well as keeping patients records accurate and their care timely.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Answers incoming phone calls from patients, partners and vendors
- Schedules appointments for patients
- Checks patients in and out for their visits in office
- Cash handling and payments for DME products
- Adds off-site appointments to the schedule for the doctor
- Charges patients the correct copay or other fees as directed
- Competent understanding of patient ledger
- Ensures patient accounts are accurate and balances are collected prior to service being rendered
- Competently obtains patient insurance eligibility and authorizations
- Closes out daily collections and prepares a daily closing report
- Cross-train with Patient Care for tasks such as rooming patients and performing intakes and handoffs
- Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Some college or professional training in medical field (Preferred)
- 3 years total work experience (Required)
- Previous experience in a Medical Reception (Required)
- Previous experience in Podiatry (Nice to Have)*
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, and stooping
- Ability to lift 15-25 pounds
