Job Function
This position is primarily responsible for verifying prior authorizations are complete, contacting patients prior to procedure to verify prep completed, running procedure room(s), completing patient intake, ordering supplies, and assisting physicians throughout the day. This role will facilitate the flow of patients and their health information throughout the practice. This role will develop a culture of service commitment amongst the team to provide an exceptional customer service experience to BUC’s patients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Ensure the procedure room is clean and organized
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation for procedure
- Monitor and maintain sterile fields during procedures
- Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure
- Manage surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment and machinery
- Assist in counting sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure they are not left inside the patient
- Provide support in case of emergencies or complications during a procedure
- Transport patients to and from the procedure room
- Update and maintain patient records and documentation
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimum patient care
- Participate in post-operative care and clean-up
- Stay current with new surgical techniques and advancements
