Job Summary: The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible to perform the duties of the position in support of the physicians in providing quality medical care. The Ophthalmic Technician will perform all job functions in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the mission and goals of Brass Eye Center.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical responsibilities:
· Medical intake, ensures medical history is complete and documented in EMR.
· Instructing patients about medications, tests and procedures.
· Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks.
· Write out prescriptions for glasses and medications.
· Perform all necessary elements of the exam per exam protocol manual.
· Assist with office surgical procedures, including room set-up and cleaning.
· Prepare biopsies for the lab and call the lab for pick-up of same.
· Clean and stock exam rooms.
· Answer all patient questions, and bring anything to the doctors’ attention that they would need to address prior to their exam.
· Responsible for all clinic equipment, ensure it is functioning properly; anything that is in need of a repair bring to your supervisors’ attention.
· Responds to patients concerns appropriately.
· Determine which patient should be next to be taken from the waiting room and to have testing initiated. Escort all patients from the waiting room for the data collection. Following testing, let the patient know who they will see next and make them comfortable during the wait.
· Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering test sequence as required.
Triage:
· Triage phone call from patients, provide the information to the physician and relay information back to patient. When necessary, schedule the patient for an appointment if needed.
Compliance:
· Performs mandatory in-service training including but not limited to OSHA and harassment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
· Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
· Adheres to Brass Eye Center employment guidelines at all times.
· Maintains an up to date certification.
Team Participation:
· Participates in staff meetings.
· Works cooperatively with all team members to ensure quality patient care at all times.
Communicates respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues, managers and others.
Other
· Cross covers other areas and performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma; college degree preferred; certified as ophthalmic technician.
2. Working knowledge of all aspects regarding ophthalmic care.
3. Basic computer competency
4. Excellent customer service skills

3. Possess a wide-ranging fund of knowledge applicable to ophthalmic care.
4. Extensive experience and understand of all aspects related to clinical processes.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
