What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic receptionist position at Brass Eye Center?
Job Summary: A receptionist is responsible for answering the phone, scheduling patients, greeting patients, checking patients in, verifying insurance eligibility, and providing initial exam work-up for providers. Receptionists will be responsible for calling in referrals, check out patients and collect all applicable co-pays. Receptionists will be the first point of contact for patients and need to be able to listen to patients chief complaints and concerns and prioritize the booking of their appointments as well as direct them to who they would need to speak with to get the help they need.
And other duties that may arise to meet office needs
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Working experience in ophthalmic care
- Experience with EMR and scheduling services
Essential Skills and Abilities: * Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability to work well and self motivate.
- Possess a wide-ranging fund of knowledge applicable to ophthalmic care.
- Extensive experience with EMR.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Personable; empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a team member.
Team Participation: * Participates in staff meetings.
- Works cooperatively with all team members to ensure quality patient care at all times.
Communicates respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues, managers and others.
