Job Summary: Participates actively in the Employee Health program at the Brattleboro Retreat, consistent with the hospital's mission statement, policies and procedures and based on the standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to interact with different levels of understanding.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited program for registered nurses and licensed in the State of Vermont as an RN. Bachelors in nursing preferred.
- Three years of experience as an RN in an occupational health clinic or emergency department.
- Two years of experience with workers’ compensation regulations, case management, and OSHA regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Competencies
Provides safe and effective occupational health nursing care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan and implement a
medical plan of care and evaluate employees and occupational health and safety conditions and concerns.
Utilizes competent interpersonal communications with employees, other hospital departments, clients, and related agencies and health care providers, as measured by:
- Direct observation of effective listening skills and sensitive and respectful verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors
- Positive customer feedback and no incidents of customer complaints
- Representing the department and the Hospital, both within and outside the organization, in a positive, professional manner.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines
Participates in the development of programs to educate employees and to provide appropriate ongoing training in
occupational health related clinical areas (hearing, blood borne pathogens, respirator fit testing, etc.).
Ensures compliance with DPH and JCAHCO regulations and standards.
Initiates and maintains contact with vendor and partner companies regarding occupational health and safety concerns,
including participation in meetings and hospital tours, including but not limited to Workers' Compensation carrier.
Actively monitors case management of employee injuries and illnesses as well as pre-employment/post offer screenings.
Maintains confidential, accurate, up to date records.
Conducts assessments for fit-for-duty and return-to-work scenarios.
Participates on and lends expertise to the Employee Wellness Program.
Participates on and lends expertise to the Drug Diversion Prevention Committee.
Collaborates with infection control for annual flu vaccine program
Participates in the development and implementation of Employee Health Policies and Procedures.
