Brattleboro Union High School is seeking a health education teacher in a 50% capacity and a physical education teacher in a 50% capacity to join our faculty for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The health education teacher provides comprehensive health education curriculum in a required course for all freshmen entering Brattleboro Union High School. Health curriculum includes topics in physical, social and mental health with a strong emphasis on making positive choices. The health curriculum focuses on current issues and challenges faced by adolescents and young adults. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong content knowledge, enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge and the ability to differentiate instruction in order to embrace all members of our diverse student population.
The physical education position teaching position teaches General PE, Fitness PE and Adaptive PE in a high school of approximately 800 students. The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for VT licensure and be conversant with educational philosophies and classroom practices that promote the Brattleboro Union High School core values of respect, responsibility, relevance and community. The candidate must also possess an in-depth knowledge of VT and National Standards for Physical Education, nutrition, weight management, fitness and health education as well as demonstrate effective instructional techniques and methodologies for teaching students 9-12.
The successful candidate for this position will be able to effectively discuss how they work with marginalized students.
All candidates must hold, or be eligible for, Vermont licensure as a secondary health teacher. Candidates should be conversant in BUHS core values.
