Accounting Manager – Construction – Virginia Beach – Pay to $120K Bonus
A dynamic and successful multi-entity construction company in Virginia Beach is seeking an ACCOUNTING MANAGER to join its corporate accounting team.
The Accounting Manager will lead a small accounting operations team, take charge of general ledger and financial reporting for multiple affiliated companies, participate in and oversee the payroll process, and assist the controller with corporate month-end and year-end close, budgeting and forecasting, and audit preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining, processing, and analyzing financial records and reporting for affiliated companies in construction and complementary industries
- Oversee and manage daily accounting operations
- Manage and process weekly payroll including managing timesheets, posting records, and GL reconciliations
- Take an active role in the month-end close process including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Assist with budgeting and quarterly forecasting
- Assist with year-end processes including 1099 and W-2 Forms
- Assist with year-end financial audit
- Manage a small team including providing oversight, direction, and mentorship
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA a plus
- 5 years of comprehensive and progressive accounting experience
- 2 years of experience leading daily accounting operations with a focus of inspiring, mentoring, and developing employees
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and practices
- Strong systems ability including experience with a complex ERP and advanced ability with MS Excel
- Demonstrated ability to lead with integrity, fairness, care, and concern
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the mindset of turning challenges into solutions
- Commitment to consistency, accuracy, follow through, and meeting deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Professional attitude, proven reliability, and strong work ethic
- Detail oriented with excellent time management ability
- Knowledge of and experience with payroll requirements
- Occasional local travel required
