What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Clerk – Motor Vehicle -Dealer Courier position at Brazoria County?
Assists the Motor Vehicle Department in the Tax Office in providing customer assistance while ensuring dealer inventory is accounted for, safeguarded and efficiently distributed to all dealers in Brazoria County by performing the following duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Regular attendance is required;
- Provides remarkable customer service while distributing inventory and corresponding with dealers;
- Communicates with the Lead – Motor Vehicle – Dealer Compliance any issues regarding dealers and/or inventory;
- Acts as the dealer liaison and communicates effectively with all dealers in Brazoria County;
- Prepares and distributes license plate orders from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to dealers in Brazoria County;
- Remains current on all applicable laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles;
- Ensures compliance with County policies while operating a County owned vehicle as well as stays current on maintenance on the County issued vehicle;
- Attends and participates in meetings and training, as required;
- Perform other job duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training Guidelines:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of:
- County government operations;
- County fiscal and budgeting policies and procedures, as well as Federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing area of assignment;
- Office procedures and systems;
- Office equipment;
- Basic bookkeeping practices and methods;
- Department policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
- Texas Department of Motor Vehicles policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Skill in:
- Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, including skill in interpreting complex information and in conveying it to other in an accurate, complete, and understandable manner;
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, vendors, suppliers and the general public.
- Using initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rules;
- Performing basic mathematical calculations;
- Providing remarkable customer service;
- Multi-tasking;
- Operating a personal computer and various software applications.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Texas Driver’s License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a traditional office work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office setting. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
